Does Google Manipulate Results Despite Claims of Impartiality?

It's Hard Enough Attracting Internet Traffic To Your Site But What Do You Do When Google Decides It Doesn't Like The Nature of Your Content (not adult or anything like that)...

And Decides To Restrict Exposure of that Site!

Recently I stopped paying for hundreds of high quality links to this site with some surprising results!

What was surprising was that as soon as I dislinked those links my inner pages started acquiring page rank. Actually to be honest it wasn't too much of a surprise. I had known for some time that I'd have to quit those links but having experienced something similar before I was also aware that in doing so (i.e., dislinking) I was going to drop considerably on the SERPs!

But I figured better sooner than later when Internet Business Mart was ranking highly for its most coveted keywords. Anyway the reason I dislinked was that I had figured out a couple of things that Google had implemented with respect to link evaluation. Click below to read the article:

New Link Evaluation Parameters

I'd like to talk about a recent experiment I was conducting that more or less made me negelect this site for several weeks now!

I was trying to see how fast I could get a site (rather blog) to the front page of Google within just alittle over two months. The goal was to have my blog, whose topic was about Princess Diana or more specifically the conspiracy behind her assassination, to make it to the top of Google for the keyword term Princess Diana before August 31st of 2007 which happened to be the 10th anniversary of her death! All was going welll especially when the blog finally debuted on the Google Index on page 53 on Aug 11th as shown below and then rocketed to page 22 the very next day! Then I knew that it indeed was quite possible to make page one of Google by the 31st...

BUT I HADN'T RECKONED ON GOOGLE PLAYING DIRTY!

Okay you might think this is just another case of sour-grapes griping so let me lay down the facts then make your decision:

My Princess Diana Blog (click the bolded text to go to it) was started on Friday June 22nd of 2007, the date on which I made my first post. Less than 2 months later on August 11th of 2007 this same blog debuted in Google's results index on page 53 for the keyword Princess Diana (as depicted by the image below). I cannot lie...I was quite excited, it definitely looked like my SEO tactics were paying off big time!

The next day I had reason to be even more excited when the blog skyrocketed to page 22 form 53; that's when I knew I could certainly meet my goal of attaining Google Page 1 by the 31st!

But then lo and behold the following day my blog had disappeared completely from the Google Index. After much investigation I found that Google had stopped crawling my blog for some reason or other on the 14th of August...it has never been crawled since! This was a blog that was being visited by the Googlebot several times a day but now zilch! I have written to the good folk (or the not-so-good-folk)at Google and I'm awaiting their reply but if you've ever tried to get hold of Google support lately you'll know full well that support is not their best characteristic.

As Soon As August 31st Rolled In The Googlebot Mysteriously Started Crawling The Blog Once More...

I guess the plan was to keep the blog off the front page of Google's index until the 10-year anniversary had passed!
